Dr. Lara Jamieson spent much of her time as a child at her grandparents’ small farm in rural PEI. From her family, she learned a love for all types of animals- from dogs and cats, to farm animals and rescued wildlife. She knew from a very young age that she wanted to make veterinary medicine her career.
Dr Jamieson graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2001. After a year working in New Brunswick, she was offered a job at Alta Vista Animal Hospital, where she was a part of the General Practice team until 2018.
While a student, Dr Jamieson volunteered with organizations that provided therapeutic horseback riding and pet visitation. Since graduating, she has volunteered with spay/ neuter and vaccine clinics in the Caribbean, with the local Pony Club and with Ottawa Veterinary Outreach services.
An avid pet owner herself, she has two rescue cats, two dogs who moved to Canada from the Caribbean, and two horses.
She looks forward to joining the Queensway West Animal Hospital team and continuing to provide thorough and compassionate veterinary care.
