We provide a range of medical services that expand upon the annual general physical examination to help diagnose and treat specific health conditions. Most often these services are performed in the hospital, however on occasion we may need to refer your pet to a qualified specialist to have certain procedures performed.
Because pets are not able to communicate their symptoms to us and in fact often try to hide signs of illness from us we rely on blood testing and urine testing more than human doctors do. Collecting a small amount of blood and urine is generally quite simple and the results give us a lot of information about what is going on internally in your pet at that moment.
Our house laboratory is equipped to run a wide range of tests and the reults are available to us generally within 24 hours. In emergency situations we can have results within minutes. Certain tests need to be run at our outside laboratory and these reults may take longer to return.
The tests we can run in clinic include:
- Complete Blood Counts (CBC)
- Serum Biochemistry
- Electrolytes and Blood Gas Analysis
- Urinalysis
- Thyroid testing for dogs and cats
- Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus testing for Cats and Heartworm Testing for Dogs
