Spaying

Spaying refers to the surgical sterilization of the female. A spay surgery is conducted under general anesthesia (your pet is completely unconscious). The ovaries and the uterus are completely removed through an incision into the abdomen. Recovery is generally very quick but exercise should be restricted for a 7-10 day period after the surgery. By having your pet spayed you can avoid the problem of unwanted litters and can also avoid or minimize the occurrence of diseases such as pyometra (uterine infection) and mammary, uterine and ovarian cancer.
