Meet Our Veterinary Team

After living in many different parts of the world, Erin came back to Ottawa to attend Algonquin College. She first completed the veterinary assistant program in 2017 but realized that she wanted to do more in her career, so she went on to complete the veterinary technician program, graduating in 2018.

She has loved being a part of the QWAH family since graduating as an RVT, she then transitioned to manager of the practice in 2022 while still keeping up with her RVT duties in the clinic.

Erin currently lives with her two cats Jinxx and Sasha. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her friends, reading and travelling.

Xjandria has lived in Ottawa for a majority of her life and stayed to go to Algonquin College to become a Veterinary Technician. She joined the QWAH family immediately after graduating in 2021. Building relationships with clients and their pets is one of the highlights of the job she enjoys the most.

When Xjandria is not working, she is hanging out with her three cats, Einstein, Ember, and Enya, and spending time in her garden.

Dana was born and raised in Ottawa. She has always had a great love for animals and it was no surprise when she decided that she was going to become a Veterinary Technician. Dana graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario in 2016. After working in a neurology clinic for over 3 years, Dana decided to join the QWAH team and live the general practice life.

When not at work, Dana is at home with her cat Arabella and her miniature poodle Alara. Her favourite part of her job is creating relationships with clients and patients.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Kelly graduated from a veterinary technician program in 2015. She previously worked in shelter and emergency medicine and joined Queensway West Animal Hospital in 2023.

When not at work, Kelly enjoys camping and hiking with her husband, their four children, and their senior shepherd.

Cassy is following her life-long dream of working in the veterinary field and is a new 2024 grad from Algonquin College’s Veterinary Technician program. She brings great enthusiasm for the profession as well as decades of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry on the human side.

She shares her life with Chester, a St. Bernard mix, River, the yellow hoovador (lab) and a tripod kitty, Poppy, who she fostered and adopted through the vet tech program at Algonquin College. Along with walking and playing with her dogs she enjoys stand up paddle boarding, often bringing River along.

Amanda received her Medical Laboratory Assistant / Technician diploma in the spring of 2010. Amanda had always wanted to work in the veterinary field and that dream was fulfilled when she started with Queensway West Animal Hospital in May 2010.

Amanda shares her home with her dog, Harley, and her interests outside the hospital include wildlife photography, ATVing and spending time with family and friends.

Ryleigh is a receptionist at Queensway West Animal Hospital. She graduated from the veterinary assistant program at St. Lawrence College in the spring of 2024, and this is her first job in the field. Ryleigh's favourite thing about the job is working with and meeting like-minded people that love animals as much as she does.

When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and scrolling through cat TikToks. Ryleigh has two cats, Theo and Willow, and a leopard gecko named Diego.

Kahlan is a local, having grown up in Carleton Place and now living just up the road in Munster. The family business is forestry, so she always assumed that she would follow in the family footsteps and pursued forestry in college. Upon graduating from college during COVID, she noticed there were many job postings in the veterinary industry and thought she would give it a try.

Kahlan truly feels like she’s found her place in the clinic environment; it combines her love of pets with her love of people. She is thrilled to be serving pet parents at Queensway West Animal Hospital.
