Promoting Contented, Healthy Lives
Spaying or neutering your pet not only prevents unwanted pregnancies and reduces the homeless animal population, but they also help pets live longer, healthier lives by significantly lowering the risk of certain infections and cancers.
Additionally, these procedures can help to mitigate behavioural problems such as territory marking, howling, animal aggression and roaming, fostering a more harmonious relationship between you and your beloved companion.
To help ensure a safe and successful surgery, your pet will be tested to see if they face a risk of anesthetic complications. Pain medication will be provided as needed and your pet will be monitored by staff both during and after surgery.
From start to finish, our team will do everything we can to ensure that your companion remains comfortable and pain-free.

When to Spay or Neuter Your Cat or Dog
No one understands your pet's health better than your veterinarian. Although we provide general spay and neuter age guidelines below, it is always best to consult your veterinarian.
Cats: We recommend spaying or neutering cats at six months of age. This allows them to reach their relative adult size and make sure they can safely metabolize anesthetic agents. While we do recommend getting your cat spayed or neutered as soon as possible, a healthy adult cat can be spayed or neutered at any age.
Dogs: Many veterinarians have concluded that for some breeds, it is better to wait until the dog reaches sexual maturity before performing reproductive surgeries. Your veterinarian can provide you with spay and neuter guidelines based on your pup's age, breed, size and lifestyle.

-
How long will it take for my pet to recover from surgery?
Spay and neuter procedures are typically day surgeries, allowing your dog or cat to return home in the evening following their procedure.
As your pet recovers, you will need to restrict their activity for about 10 days. A protective collar may also need to be worn by your pet to prevent them from licking the incision.
-
Will my pet feel anything during the procedure?
No, your pet will be under general anesthesia, and will not feel anything during the spay or neuter procedure.
-
Will my pet gain weight after the procedure?
Your puppy or kitten will continue to grow to their full adult weight after the spay or neuter procedure, and this naturally includes some weight gain.
Additionally, now that your pet has been fixed, their caloric requirements will be reduced. It is important to monitor their weight to ensure that they are not becoming overweight.
-

Will my pet need to stay in the hospital overnight?
In some rare cases, it may be necessary to keep a pet overnight following spay and neuter surgery. However, these procedures are typically day surgeries. This means that you will drop your pet off with us in the morning at a pre-arranged time and then pick them up once our veterinarians have decided that your dog or cat is ready to head home.
When you come to pick up your pet, your veterinarian will provide you with detailed instructions for post-surgical at-home care.
